Singapore City Facts
Language: Singapore has four official languages; English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. Malay is widely spoken (and the national language prior to independence). The island's patois is called 'Singlish' with a vocabulary drawn from a mix of English, Malay and various Chinese dialects, pronounced in a singular fashion.

Sentosa Island
Cable-cars and ferries run from the World Trade Centre. Attracting over three and a half million visitors each year, it is Singapore's most popular attraction. The island has a wide variety of museums, sites and activities including South-East Asia's largest oceanarium, a nineteenth century British fort complete with bunkers, tunnels and gun emplacements, a Butterfly Park and an Insectarium
Singapore Zoo
The zoo is home to more than 2000 animals of nearly 250 species. The night safari offers an unrivalled opportunity to study nocturnal animals.
Jurong Bird Park
Home to 8000 birds from nearly 600 species, the Jurong Bird Park features a two hectare walk-in aviary and a simulated rainforest thunderstorm, held at noon each day.
Singapore Botanic Gardens
The 54 hectare (130 acre) Botanic Gardens contain over 2000 species of tropical and sub-tropical plants and trees and the National Orchid Garden, with over 60,000 superb specimens.
Singapore Transportation and Airport Information
Getting from the airport to town and exploring the city. 
Singapore's Changi Airport is at the eastern end of the island, 20 kilometres from the city centre. Limousine, car hire and taxi services are all available.  Public buses,SBS and TIBS leaves the airport from 6:00 am until midnight calling at all major parts of Singapore.
The best way to get around town is on the air-conditioned Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) underground rail system, a comprehensive network operating from 6:00 am until midnight, with trains every three to five minutes.
